Hancock Regional Hospital and Hendricks Regional Health Partner with St.Vincent Health to Enhance Cardiology Services
Partnership ensures continued high quality cardiac care and increases satisfaction for patients and families
INDIANAPOLIS – Hancock Regional Hospital, Hendricks Regional Health and St.Vincent Heart Center of Indiana officials announced a cardiology services agreement to benefit patients and families throughout Hancock and Hendricks counties.
The cardiology partnership creates a model of health care that focuses on quality, patient satisfaction, efficiency and cost-effective care for Hancock Regional Hospital and Hendricks Regional Health.
“The intent of our partnership is to increase immediate access and enhance cardiovascular capabilities at our hospital,” said Bobby Keen, CEO of Hancock Regional Hospital. “By partnering with the St.Vincent Heart Center of Indiana, our patients will receive care from physicians and staff who support Indiana’s top rated cardiology program. Patients and families will have the best available heart care at our community hospital.”
Through the partnership, Hancock Regional Hospital offers enhanced cardiology capabilities including: diagnostic, rehabilitation, pacemaker placement, cardiac catheterization, stent implant, angioplasty, percutaneous transluminal coronary angioplasty (PTCA), and the offering of the $49 HeartScan.
John Sparzo, MD, vice president of Medical Affairs at Hendricks Regional Health, explains how the partnership benefits patients. “We already provide extensive heart care services to the community from screenings and advanced testing to procedures like cardiac catheterization and balloon angioplasty that allow most patients to stay close to home. By partnering with St.Vincent, we’ve gone a step further to create an easy access point for those patients requiring care for the most complex heart issues.”
Hendricks Regional Health’s enhanced cardiology services include: cardiac rehabilitation, cardiac catheterization, coronary CT, angioplasty, intravascular coronary ultrasound, electrocardiography (EKG) and stress testing, echocardiography, nuclear medicine, peripheral vascular studies, pacemaker implants and generator changes, Holter monitoring and a $49 HeartScan.
“We have a vision to better meet the needs of Indiana residents by expanding our cardiology service capabilities at the local community level,” said Blake Dye, president of the St.Vincent Heart Center of Indiana. “This partnership grants the opportunity for patients who need more complex cardiovascular care at Hancock Regional Hospital and Hendricks Regional Health to have a seamless transition to the St.Vincent Heart Center of Indiana.”
Through the affiliation with Suburban Health Organization (SHO), Hancock Regional, Hendricks Regional Health and St.Vincent have established cardiovascular standards of quality and patient safety, and track information that supports best practice sharing and performance improvement. SHO is comprised of seven Central Indiana hospitals that work together to promote quality, efficiency and patient access in the communities they serve.
The St.Vincent Heart Center of Indiana was recently named nationally as one of the 50 Top Cardiovascular Hospitals by Thomson Reuters. In addition, the heart program earned Indiana’s top honor for cardiology and coronary interventional procedures for the seventh consecutive year by HealthGrades.
