St.Vincent Announces Administrator for Fishers Hospital

FISHERS – St.Vincent officials announced Gary Fammartino as the administrator of St.Vincent Fishers Hospital effective February 6, 2012.

Last October, the faith-based health system broke ground on an 110,000-square foot expansion of St.Vincent Medical Center Northeast. The expansion will convert the outpatient facility to a 40-bed hospital, and it will be known as St.Vincent Fishers Hospital upon completion in 2013.

For more than 10 years, Fammartino has held a number of positions within St.Vincent Health, starting in Medical Imaging and Network Development. Since 2008, Fammartino served as the system executive of Ambulatory & Outpatient Services, where he was responsible for providing leadership for the development of the of the ambulatory and outpatient business strategy for St.Vincent Health, as well as business development for St.Vincent Indianapolis Hospital.

"Gary's background in Catholic health care has given him the opportunity to integrate his personal core values with those of the organization," said Kyle DeFur, president of St.Vincent Indianapolis Hospital. "His philosophy of leadership is one of collaboration and teamwork including his ability to listen well; effectively motivate and inspire others; and provide a team with thoughtful vision and strategic direction."

Fammartino earned his Bachelor of Science degree in Education in 1978; an associate's degree in Respiratory Science in 1982; and his MBA in Finance/Management in 1992 from Youngstown State University in Youngstown, OH. He and his wife Suzanne have four boys: Christopher, age 24; Anthony, age 21; Raymon; age 21; and Ryan, age 19.

The Fishers facility expansion, located at 13914 Southeastern Parkway at the intersection of Olio Road, will focus on wellness – women's health and family health – for patients and families throughout Hamilton County. It will encompass 30 medical/surgical beds and 10 labor-delivery-recovery-postpartum rooms. Development plans also include spa-like amenities, indoor and outdoor dining, and convenient 24-hour room service for patients.

In 2008, St.Vincent Health opened Indiana's first freestanding emergency department at St.Vincent Medical Center Northeast in Fishers. In addition, the facility has an ambulatory surgery center, all-digital imaging center, and a medical office building including primary care offices, a pediatric and adult sleep disorders center, rehabilitation, laboratory and mental health services.
