Hospitalist Services
For Physicians
The Adult Inpatient Medicine Service (AIMS) is a dedicated Hospitalist Program within St.Vincent Health. The program is designed to allow constant attention to your patient’s care while they are hospitalized at St.Vincent. By having a physician presence 24 –hours-a-day, including weekends, we are able to respond quickly to patient needs and continually monitor your patient’s progress.
In addition to the benefits to your patients, by partnering with AIMS:
- You will not be interrupted with nursing cross-cover calls during the night nor will you have to commute to the hospital for emergencies or to admit patients from the ED.
- Due to the close relationship we maintain with specialists, your patients will receive a timely specialist consultation and any follow-up care.
- Since Hospitalists do not have an office practice, patients will return to the care of their primary care physician after they are discharged.
- By partnering with AIMS to take care of inpatients, physicians are able to focus on their office practice as well as other activities.
To refer a patient directly to AIMS as a direct admission from your office practice, please call OneCall at (317) 338-5000 and ask to speak to a Hospitalist about a direct admission. Our Hospitalist team will then work with Bed Control to admit the patient to the most appropriate unit.
Once an agreement is in place between your practice and AIMS to have a patient admitted to AIMS from the St.Vincent Emergency Department, simply inform the ED physician to "admit to AIMS."
To request the care of your patients be provided by AIMS Hospitalists, or for any questions or discussion regarding the Hospitalist Program, please email Dr. Craig Wilson, Executive Director of the Hospitalist Program at CJWilson@stvincent.org or James Vick, Coordinator of the Hospitalist Program at JFVick@stvincent.org.
