Research Year

Beau Aldridge, MD

Beau grew up in Florida and attended Notre Dame for his undergraduate degree. He received his MD from the Medical College of Georgia, and did his first two years of surgery training at the University of Cincinnati and the University of Louisville, respectively. He is interested in pediatric surgery. Along with surgery, Beau enjoys working out and reading.


Philip Karuman, MD, PhD

Philip received his MD from National University of Singapore and his PhD in Molecular Biology from Harvard. He did a fellowship in transplantation at the University of Pittsburgh and remained on the faculty at Pittsburgh in the Transplant Division, and joins us as a 3rd year surgery resident. When not in the OR, you can find Phil training for a marathon.

Dominic Papandria, MD

Nick is from northern Indiana and attended IU as an undergraduate and the University of North Carolina for his MD. He did one year of surgery training at North Carolina and 3 years at Johns Hopkins, two of which were in the Pediatric Surgery laboratory. He is also interested in pediatric surgery. In addition to his medical interests, he enjoys hiking, flying (slowly taking pilot lessons), skeet shooting, in-line skating, camping, and preparing and consuming obscenely spicy food.


Argenis Herrera, MD

Argenis received his MD in his native Venezuela and has completed two years of training at Temple University in Philadelphia, one year of which was in the laboratory. Outside of surgery, Argenis also enjoys learning about universal history, sociology, statistics, electronic engineering, and physics.

Victor Maciel, MD

Victor received his MD from the Universidad de Guadalajara and has completed his surgery internship at Mt. Sinai in Miami. In addition to surgery, Victor likes art, music, literature, and sports.


Gabriel Arevalo, MD

Gabriel received his MD in El Salvador and has completed two years of rotations on surgery and research at Oklahoma University. In addition to surgery, Gabe likes to swim and play guitar.

Brandon Millick, MD

Brandon, originally from Linton, IN received his undergraduate degree from Purdue and his MD from IU. He did one year of family medicine training before seeing the light and switching to general surgery. He did a surgical internship at IU. He worked as an ICU nurse for 10 years at Methodist before going to medical school. Brandon is an outdoor enthusiast who enjoys spending time with his family and music. He sings, and plays piano, trumpet, and bass guitar

Gerirose Gooding, MD

Gerirose (Rosie) Gooding is originally from Wheelersburg, OH. She received her undergraduate degree from Wright State University and her MD from IUSM. In her spare time, Rosie enjoys going for runs with her dogs and spending time with her kids, husband, and family.

Greg Roberts, MD

Greg is originally from Goshen, IN and received his MD from IUSM. Outside of surgery, he likes to run, work out, play with his dogs, and work on his Benz.


Rocio Fuentes, MD

Rocio is originally from San Salvador, El Salvador and received her MD there. Before joining our program, she completed a preliminary year in general surgery at the Bronx Lebanon Hospital Center, in New York. In her spare time, Rocio enjoys swimming, baking desserts, teaching, and spending time outdoors.

Bo-Kyu Kim, MD

Bo-kyu (Bo) Kim is originally from South Korea. He received his undergraduate degree from Purdue University and MD from Indiana University School of Medicine. In his spare time, Bo enjoys cooking, drawing, and spending time with his family and friends.

Wilmer Mata, MD

Wilmer (Wil) Mata is originally from Caracas, Venezuela. Received his MD from Universidad de Carabobo, Valencia, Venezuela, and completed a surgical research fellowship at Jackson Memorial Hospital in Miami. In his spare time, Wil enjoys music, outdoor activities and swimming.


Gabie Ong, MD

Gabie is originally from Singapore but moved to Toronto, Canada when she was 13. She attended University of Toronto for her undergraduate studies and Saba University School of Medicine for medical school. She concluded a year of surgery training at the Mayo Clinic prior to joining us. Her personal interests include travelling the world, trying new and exotic foods, fishing and attending the opera.

Katie Harris, MD

Katie is from Indianapolis and attended IU as an undergraduate, where she majored in Biochemistry. Her first two years of medical school at IU were spent in Bloomington before coming back to Indianapolis for the final two years. She is married and has a kitty named Zoe. In addition to her medical interests, Katie enjoys cheering on the IU Hoosiers, boating, road trips, and playing fantasy football.

Jordan Wilkerson, MD

Jordan is a lifetime Hoosier originally from Madison, Indiana. He attended Indiana University for both his undergraduate & medical education. He is currently interested in Minimally Invasive Surgery. In addition to his medical interests, he enjoys watching IU basketball, soccer, rock climbing, and sampling all of the fine cuisine that the city of Indianapolis has to offer.
