What Sets Our Program Apart?

St.Vincent’s residency program in obstetrics and gynecology is an academically rigorous training program, balancing the supportive atmosphere of a community program with the opportunities afforded by a single, large quaternary care center. Subspecialty experience is extensive, with the residents gaining significant exposure to gynecologic oncology, urogynecology, endocrinology/infertility, and maternal fetal medicine (the St.Vincent NICU, at 75 beds, is the largest single unit in the state of Indiana).

Residents learn and practice in a supportive environment, allowing them to develop to their fullest potential. St.Vincent’s core values of Service To the Poor, Reverence, Integrity, Wisdom, Creativity and Dedication are all actively demonstrated within the program, through the residents’ interactions with faculty staff, patients, support staff and fellow resident colleagues.

Commitment Statements

In 2010, as a sign of the dedication required to teach our residents (a dedication often implied but not recognized), the teaching faculty of the St. Vincent Ob/Gyn program agreed to sign a faculty commitment statement, outlining the importance of our role as teachers and mentors. In response to this initiative, the residents decided to create a commitment statement of their own, outlining what they felt was their responsibility to both the profession of medicine and to the physicians who dedicate their time and efforts in teaching them.
