Class of 2014

Medical School: Madras Medical College India

I chose St Vincent pediatrics because of its great reputation in primary care pediatrics in Midwest. I enjoy being part of a very friendly team, with plenty of opportunity for hands-on patient care experience. I have an interest in both primary care and intensive care pediatrics and plan to pursue these interests after graduation.

My interest in pediatrics unraveled through my volunteerism. I was privileged to organize a number of local health fairs throughout the area in which I gained exposure to a slew of diverse patient populations. It was through these experiences that I began to apprehend the connection and interest I have with children and their parents, as well as the importance of connection and interest I have with children and their parents as well as the importance of community in the delivery of health care. For me, the art of medicine is the humanity in forming connections and bonds to provide the best patient care—a concept that is truly synonymous in the field of pediatrics.

Class of 2014

Medical School: University of Nebraska College of Medicine

I chose pediatrics because I have always been a kid at heart myself, but there is a different kind of reward in caring for children. As a pediatrician, you can change an entire life, and here at St. Vincent we do it as a family. I think that is pretty great! As for what I want to be when I grow up... I'm still not sure, but I'm sure it will be fun.

Katie Seipel, MD

Class of 2014

Medical School: Indiana University School of Medicine

I chose to do my Pediatric residency at St. Vincent because at the time I believed I wished to do primary care, but I was also thinking about specializing. I wanted a program with a strong focus in primary care, but also with specialties that would allow me to specialize should I choose to do so. After graduation I plan on pursuing primary care pediatrics.

Katie Voges, MD

Class of 2014

Medical School: Indiana University School of Medicine

I have always felt more drawn to pediatrics than any other medical field, even back at the start of medical school. Working with kids is fun, and there is ample opportunity for teaching and connecting with families. I chose St. Vincent for the emphasis on education, the one-on-one interaction with faculty, and the comraderie of working with a close-knit group of residents. My plans after graduation are still up in the air, but most likely I will be pursuing outpatient pediatrics with focus on the underserved. I love interacting with the Hispanic population as well as addressing the unique challenges of those with few resources.
