Inducing Delivery Early Carries Risks

About 20 percent of pregnant women in the U.S. have labor induced, but inducing before 39 weeks carries risks for the babies. St.Vincent Health requires doctors who want to induce before then to go through a peer-review process first. Dr. Christopher Mernitz, obstetrician-gynecologist with St.Vincent Carmel Hospital, discussed why early inductions are ill-advised.
