Consumers Select St.Vincent Indianapolis as the Most Preferred Hospital for 16th Consecutive Year
INDIANAPOLIS – St.Vincent Indianapolis Hospital, 2001 W. 86th Street, was selected by consumers as the No. 1 most preferred hospital in the 2011 National Research Corporation Consumer Choice Award survey. This marks the 16th consecutive year that the faith-based hospital has been honored by consumers.
In Indiana, St.Vincent is the only hospital to have won the award for all 16 years. Throughout the Midwest states, only seven hospitals have won the Consumer Choice Award for 16 consecutive years.
"Our patients and families have rewarded us for our commitment to service and positive care experiences," said Kyle DeFur, president of St.Vincent Indianapolis Hospital. "We appreciate this recognition and hearing the voice of our patients, and will continue to listen and identify areas of opportunity for our health programs and services."
Nationwide, only 42 hospitals of nearly 3,200 mentioned by name have won the Consumer Choice Award for 16 years, which places St.Vincent in the top 2 percent.
National Research Corporation is an independent industry leader with more than two decades of experience in healthcare measurement and improvement. Hospitals that received recognition rank highest in their respective Core Based Statistical Areas (CBSAs) as defined by the U.S. Census Bureau.
Last month, St.Vincent received America’s 100 Best Specialty Excellence Awards in coronary intervention, critical care, spine surgery and stroke care by HealthGrades, the nation’s most trusted, independent source of physician information and hospital quality ratings. The 130-year-old hospital was No. 1 in Indiana for spine surgery, and also ranked within the top five percent in the nation for cardiology services, women’s health and emergency medicine.
