INDIANAPOLIS -Mary Norine Walsh, MD, FACC, medical director, Heart Failure and Cardiac Transplantation and director, Nuclear Cardiology at the St.Vincent Heart Center received the Excellence in Medical Leadership Award from WomenHeart at the Wenger Awards in Washington, D.C.

The Wenger Awards are the only national event that honors outstanding individuals and organizations who have demonstrated a tireless commitment to improving the lives of women living with heart disease, and to advancing the science that will improve prevention, early and accurate diagnosis, and proper treatment.

Dr. Walsh has been a practicing cardiologist for more than 25 years. She is a persistent voice on the importance of recognizing and treating sex differences in cardiovascular disease. She has been elected by her peers for inclusion in Best Doctors in America annually since 2005. In addition, Dr. Walsh is active in the American College of Cardiology (ACC), having served as president of the Indiana Chapter and as past chair of the ACC Women in Cardiology Committee. She is currently the chair of the Patient Centered Cardiac Care Committee; co-chair of the Cardiovascular Disease in Women; and past member of the ACC Board of Trustees.
