The role of the speech pathologist (or speech therapist) is to provide evaluation and treatment to children and adults who demonstrate speech, language, cognition, voice and swallowing disorders. Following the initial evaluation, the speech pathologist works with the patient and family to create an individualized treatment plan with a strong focus on education.
