Our Foundation

What's New, The Foundation Update

Our 2008 Project is Complete!!!!

St.Vincent Dunn Hospital Foundation selected as it's 2008 project assisting Dunn Hospital with the refurbishing of patient rooms. The Foundation provided funds for a portion of the project. The room updates include some new furniture, painting, softgoods, and artwork. Employees of the Hospital created the room decor and were active members in each room’s formation as part of an overall plan coordinated by an interior design firm. Our goal was to create a more stimulating and healing atmosphere for our patients.

Enhancing our patient's experience is a high priority for St.Vincent Dunn Hospital, and this was one way to achieve a portion of that enhancement. The rooms before the renovation were lacking "Healing Power." Documentation shows that an appealing, comfortable surrounding helps people during recovery, and most of our rooms did not lend themselves to that need before.

The Goals were to:

  • Update Room Finishes
  • Improve Lighting
  • Heighten Appeal
  • Most importantly...Incorporate "Healing Power"

Our Mission for the project:

"To promote ownership and unity among the staff and to provide a simpler, more comfortable environment for the patients of St.Vincent Dunn Hospital"

How we started

The Plan:

  • Selected Teams
  • Teams were assigned the 23 Rooms
  • Each Team decided theme and color scheme for thier rooms.
  • Repairs were made in the rooms before work began.
  • The Transformation Process Began!

The Rooms:

The rooms were modestly updated throught he use of paint, refurbishing of some pre-existing furniture, and great, creative "imaginations." Each room is unique, as are the individuals who created them for the patients who will utilize the rooms to "heal." All teams chose accents, artwork, and any personal touches they wished to contribute to their particular rooms

New patient and visitor chairs were purchased as well as new blinds for the windows. New bedside and over-bed tables were also purchased. Furniture which was still in good shape and integrity was refurbished in order to save money.

These updates have made a tremendous impact on the comfort and healing of our patients and their families.
