School Wellness

The School Wellness Program assists schools in meeting their health and wellness goals and in implementing their School Wellness Policy, as required in some instances by the federal government. Resources include classroom presentations to students and presentations to school staff and/or parents on a variety of issues.

Some of the more commonly requested presentations include bullying, stress management, nutrition and physical activity.

In addition, the Peyton Manning Children’s Hospital at St.Vincent has many hands-on activities that are available to schools. Examples of these are:

  • Glitterbug, which teaches students the proper way to wash their hands (especially popular during flu season!)
  • The Heart Adventure Challenge Course, an obstacle course that teaches students how blood flows through the heart and about heart disease

The School Wellness Program also assists schools in organizing health fairs or safety fairs. There are approximately 150 schools who partner with the School Wellness Program through Peyton Manning Children’s Hospital at St.Vincent.
