Ultrasound Core Biopsies

Your doctor may recommend an image-guided biopsy if you have an abnormal area in the breast that is difficult to locate by feel. With ultrasound core biopsies, a radiologist uses ultrasound techniques to find the suspicious area. Then, a needle is inserted into the mass so tissue can be removed and examined for the presence of cancer cells.
