St.Vincent Rehabilitation Therapies
achieves unique milestone on Patient-Reported Outcomes
Complete Focus on Therapeutic Outcomes (FOTO®) data are
now being collected on approximately 60 percent of all physical and occupational
therapy patients receiving treatment at St.Vincent Rehabilitation Therapies
clinics, compared with the typical 30 percent collected by other physical and
occupational therapy providers in the FOTO database.
“FOTO outcomes data are beneficial because they provide
a benchmark measure for overall quality and value of the services offered by an
organization,” said St.Vincent Rehabilitation Therapies Director Catherine
Middleton. “FOTO is the nation’s largest database and reporting service for
physical and occupational therapy providers. It provides outcomes of care
including patient-reported improvement in function and satisfaction related to
their physical or occupational therapy experience.” St.Vincent efforts to
achieve this goal have been driven by our value of integrity in data collection.
"We are proud that our FOTO outcomes have been
consistently higher than the national benchmark since 2002, and we received
Outcomes Excellence Awards from FOTO for many consecutive years,” said
Middleton. “We have raised the bar on integrity in collection of
patient-reported outcomes in outpatient physical and occupational therapy. In
the midst of our nation’s healthcare reform, our patients, physicians, payers
and even policymakers are looking to us, the practitioners, to provide accurate
data on relevant outcomes of care.”
