Behavior Support Services

Our goal is to help children and adults with developmental disabilities achieve optimal social and emotional health. Masters-level Behavior Specialists provide in-depth assessments and develop positive behavior support plans based on the strengths and needs of each individual. Our Consulting Psychologist and Psychiatrist meet weekly with our Behavior Specialists. This unique team approach ensures quality services for individuals, their families, and care providers.

Supports and Services

  • Experience in supporting people with a variety of diagnoses, including Intellectual Disability, Traumatic Brain Injury, Down Syndrome, Cerebral Palsy, Autism Spectrum Disorders, dual diagnosis (mental health disorders), and medically fragile conditions
  • Focus on improvement in mood and better relationships with others
  • Comprehensive behavioral assessment
  • Development of a positive behavior support plan
  • Replacement of difficult behaviors through training in assertiveness, stress reduction, problem-solving, anger management, impulse control, and social skills
  • Training for staff and family on use of the behavior plan
  • Ongoing consultation and support for families, residential staff, and other providers
  • Participation in person-centered planning with the individual and support team
  • Weekly consultation available with psychiatrist and psychologist
  • Regular medication review and diagnostic services
  • Individual counseling
  • Human Rights Committee review of behavior plans and medication
