St.Vincent Salem Hospital Extends Emergency Care Services
New Partnership Increases Access to Care When Seconds Count
SALEM, IND. – Today, St.Vincent Salem Hospital officials publicly announced a new partnership with St.Vincent Emergency Physicians, Inc., a multi-physician emergency medicine group headquartered in Indianapolis.
The affiliation which begins June 1, 2011, continues to grow the level of emergency care for residents of Salem, Washington and surrounding counties. In addition, the partnership with this large, experienced and board-certified physician group will increase the support of emergency services at St.Vincent Salem Hospital.
This physician practice has served Indiana patients for approximately 40 years, and currently supports the following hospitals: St.Vincent Indianapolis Hospital; St.Vincent Heart Center of Indiana; Peyton Manning Children’s Hospital at St.Vincent; St.Vincent Carmel Hospital; St.Vincent Medical Center Northeast in Fishers; Hancock Regional Hospital in Greenfield and St.Vincent Clay Hospital in Brazil.
“St.Vincent Emergency Physicians has demonstrated their high level of quality of care, commitment and compassion with patients in each community they have served,” said Lee Jaeger, administrator at St.Vincent Salem Hospital. “This partnership demonstrates our commitment to ensuring that the very best medical staff and services are close to home.”
In February, St.Vincent Emergency Physicians started supporting St.Vincent Clay Hospital, a 25-bed facility in Brazil, Ind., with its emergency medicine services. St.Vincent Salem Hospital, along with St.Vincent Jennings Hospital, in North Vernon will come on board on June 1.

The St.Vincent Salem Emergency Department is open 24/7 with a team of caring emergency physicians, nurses and clerical staff.
Three new emergency medicine physicians will join the emergency department medical staff. John Croasdell, MD, Joel Nunley, MD, Stephanie Johnson, MD, along with one of the current ED physician, John Reisert, DO, will provide full-time coverage in the emergency department. Several of the highly qualified primary care physicians who currently staff the department will continue to provide additional support.
