Meet our Surgical Nurses
Monica Carey, RN, Surgery Manager
As Surgery Manager, Monica Carey spends her time overseeing day-to-day operations in the Surgery Department at St.Vincent Dunn Hospital. And it’s a job she’s loved for the last 30 years, because it not only allows her to interact with the hospital’s staff, but also with patients—many of whom who she considers her good friends.
Monica is a registered nurse who received her BS in Nursing degree from Southeast Missouri University. She enjoys working at St.Vincent Dunn Hospital because to her, the staff and patients are like a big, happy family. When she’s not working, you can find Monica camping, enjoying the outdoors and spending time with her family.
Amy Brown, RN
As a child, Amy Brown experienced an injury to her eye that required hospitalization. Ever since then, Amy knew that her calling was to help people in some way. Nursing was a perfect fit.
Amy feels fortunate to have a job at St.Vincent Dunn Hospital, because it allows her work at a faith-based hospital close to her home in Bedford. She’s been a nurse at St.Vincent Dunn Hospital since 1995, and has worked in both the Obstetrics and Surgery Departments. In her free time, Amy enjoys church activities, exercising and spending time with her family.
Carol Elmore, RN
Carol Elmore is one of St.Vincent Dunn Hospital’s longest-tenured nurses with more than 33 years of experience. She has a BSN from IU School of Nursing and has had operating room certification since 1984. But Carol’s history with St.Vincent goes back even further. Years ago when her husband was ill with cardiovascular issues, St.Vincent Indianapolis Hospital was where he received treatment. And Carol has always been grateful to the St.Vincent staff for being caring and compassionate toward her family during that difficult time.
When it comes to why Carol enjoys her job at St.Vincent Dunn, she explains that she likes the fact that the hospital is family-focused, faith-based and places emphasis on holistic healing. In her spare time, Carol volunteers with her church, does needlepoint knitting, and enjoys gardening and landscaping.
