INDIANAPOLIS – Today, St.Vincent Health officials announced that Blake A. Dye, FACHE has been named the president of the St.Vincent Heart Center of Indiana. Dye will officially start on January 17, and will assume the role formerly held by John Stewart who serves a president of the newly-formed St.Vincent Medical Group.
Dye comes to St.Vincent following an 11-year tenure as president and chief executive officer of Henry County Hospital in New Castle, Ind., a member of Suburban Health Organization (SHO) of which St.Vincent Health is also a member.
Under Dye’s leadership, Henry County Hospital underwent significant renovations and employed medical staff expansion. Dye was also integral in partnering with St.Vincent Health on a number of initiatives to enhance the quality and outcomes for Henry County Hospital. This included the enhancement of cardiology services and implementation of the hospitalist program. Dye also led the hospital’s early adoption of Electronic Medical Records.
“Blake has an appreciation of the local and statewide health care landscape and is well positioned to further expand the reach of St.Vincent Heart Center cardiovascular services across Indiana,” said Vincent C. Caponi, CEO of St.Vincent Health. “He is also experienced in building and maintaining effective physician relationships, which will be an important component of his new role as president.”
Dye earned both his Bachelor’s of Science degree in Public Health Administration and his Master of Health Administration from Indiana University. He is a fellow of the American College of Healthcare Executives; chairman of the Indiana Hospital Association; past chairman of Council on Government Relations for the Indiana Hospital Association; a member of the SHO Board of Directors; Chairman of the SHO SPC Captive Insurance Board of Directors and a member of the Indiana Healthcare Executive Network (ACHE Chapter). Dye also received the prestigious American College of Healthcare Executives (ACHE) Regent’s Award – CEO of the Year in 2004.
For the sixth consecutive year, the St.Vincent Heart Center was recently ranked the best in Indiana for cardiology services by HealthGrades, the leading independent healthcare ratings organization that analyzes patient outcomes. This honor made the dedicated cardiovascular facility one of eight hospitals across the country to receive the best in state ranking for overall cardiac care for six years in a row.
In addition, the St.Vincent Heart Center was named the sole cardiovascular program in Indiana to receive the Thomson Reuters 50 Top Cardiovascular Hospitals honor, and recently earned the 2010 Press Ganey Summit Award.
