Dr. Thompson received his bachelor’s degree in psychology from the University of Indianapolis in 1996. He earned his doctorate in Clinical Psychology from the University of Indianapolis in 2002, and completed a residency in Clinical Neuropsychology with Pediatric Neuropsychology Associates at Methodist Children’s Hospital in Indianapolis in 2003.  Following completion of his APA accredited internship and a Fellowship in Clinical Neuropsychology, Dr. Thompson provided comprehensive psychological and neuropsychological services in southeastern Virginia until moving back to Indianapolis in 2006. 

Dr. Thompson provides neuropsychological services to individuals of all ages, although his clinical practice now consists primarily of older adults.   His professional memberships include the America Psychological Association and the National Academy of Neuropsychology.  Dr. Thompson is also credentialed with the National Register of Health Service Providers in Psychology and recently received his Board Certification in Clinical Neuropsychology by the American Board of Professional Psychology.

Sarah Jenkins, PhD
Health Psychology Fellow

Sarah Jenkins, PhD, recently joined the Department of Neuropsychology at St.Vincent Neuroscience Institute. Dr. Jenkins received her bachelor’s and master’s degree at the University of Arkansas at Little Rock. She received her doctorate in 2011 from Ball State University, Indiana.

Dr. Jenkins has clinical practice and research experience in health psychology; primary care psychiatry; PTSD/substance use disorders; behavioral health coordinator; family medicine; and has a great deal of experience with clients who have cancer and mental health concerns. She is completing her health psychology fellowship at St.Vincent Indianapolis Hospital under the supervision of Jon Thompson, PsyD, HSSP, program manager of the Neuropsychology Department, and Lori Urban, PsyD, HSPP.

Dr. Jenkins’ clinical interests and services include: adjustment to chronic illness; psychosocial oncology; coping with hospitalization; pain management training; stress management training; grief/loss concerns; depression; anxiety; psychoeducation, (e.g., mind-body connection, weight management); smoking cessation; adherence to medical regimens; and medical staff training and support.

Dr. Jenkins has been a member of numerous professional organizations including the Indiana Public Health Association; Indiana Psychological Association; American Psychological Society; Association for Advanced Behavioral Therapy; Arkansas Psychological Association; National Association for Gifted Children; Arkansans for Gifted and Talented Education; Society for Industrial-Organizational Psychologists; and Psi Chi (National Honor Society for Psychology). She currently serves on the Society of Behavior Medicine and is a member of the American Psychological Association Division 17, Society for Counseling Psychology; and Division 38, Health Psychology.

Andrea R. Moreau, Psy.D. HSPP
Pediatric Neuropsychologist
Licensed Clinical Psychologist

Dr. Moreau is a graduate of Lehigh University, earning her bachelor of arts in Psychology in 2002. She completed her doctorate in Clinical Psychology from the Illinois School of Professional Psychology in 2008. She completed a one-year-pre-doctoral internship at St.Vincent Hospital, and her postdoctoral fellowship at Children’s Hospital New Orleans and St.Vincent Hospital. Dr. Moreau also recently completed a postdoctoral masters program in Clinical Psychopharmacology. She joined the faculty at St.Vincent Hospital in 2010. Dr. Moreau is a member of the American Psychological Association, the International Neuropsychological Society, and the National Academy of Neuropsychology.

Dr. Moreau provides neuropsychological assessments to children and adolescents with a variety of neurological, developmental and medical conditions.

Nathan M. Parmer, PsyD, HSPP
Neuropsychologist

Nathan M. Parmer, PsyD, HSPP, earned his bachelor's degree from Wabash College in 2003. He received his master's and doctoral degrees in Clinical Psychology from the Chicago School of Professional Psychology in 2005 and 2008, respectively.

Prior to earning his doctorate, he completed his pre-doctoral clinical internship in the Defense and Veterans Brain Injury Center (DVBIC) at Walter Reed Army Medical Center in Washington, DC. He completed his post-doctoral fellowship training in Neuropsychology and Rehabilitation Psychology at the Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine in 2010. Dr. Parmer is a licensed clinical psychologist in Indiana and is credentialed through the National Register of Health Service Providers in Psychology. He is co-developer and project administrator for NextSteps, the online self-management program for survivors of physical trauma as well as Take Charge, an online treatment supplement for the self-management of acute musculoskeletal pain. Dr. Parmer is a practicing clinical neuropsychologist in the Department of Neuropsychology at St.Vincent Neuroscience Institute at St.Vincent Indianapolis Hospital and holds appointment as associate research faculty at the Johns Hopkins School of Medicine, Department of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation.

Suzanne K. Pierson, PhD, HSPP

Dr. Pierson is a graduate of the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, earning her bachelor of science in Psychology in 1998. She completed her doctorate in Clinical Psychology from the University of Toledo in 2004. She completed a one-year pre-doctoral internship at the University of Minnesota Medical School, and two-year postdoctoral fellowship at Texas Children’s Hospital/Baylor College of Medicine. Dr. Pierson joined St. Vincent Hospital in 2006.

Dr. Pierson provides neuropsychological services to children and adolescents presenting with neurocognitive difficulties secondary to medical conditions.

Andrea R. Schwarte, PhD, HSPP
Pediatric Neuropsychologist

Dr. Schwarte is a graduate of the University of South Dakota in Vermillion, SD, earning her bachelor’s degree in Psychology in 1996. She received her doctorate in Clinical Psychology from Marquette University in Milwaukee, WI, in 2004. She completed a one-year internship and two-year postdoctoral fellowship at the University of Minnesota Medical School in Minneapolis, MN, and joined St. Vincent Hospital in 2006.

Dr. Schwarte enjoys the diversity of her generalist neuropsychology practice, while specializing in cognitive, behavioral and emotional problems related to:

  • Neurosurgery (hydrocephalus, cranial malformations)

Lori A. Urban, Psy.D., HSPP
Clinical Psychologist
Pediatric Health Psychologist

Dr. Urban earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in psychology from Purdue University at Indianapolis and a Master of Arts degree in psychology from Ball State University.  She obtained her Doctoral degree in Clinical Psychology from the University of Indianapolis after having completed a pre-doctoral internship at Ball Memorial Hospital, where she received training in health psychology/behavioral medicine and neuropsychology.  While at the University of Indianapolis, she received the Kerry Heffner Award for Outstanding Student and has continued to assist students academically by participating on doctoral dissertation committees, supervising pre-doctoral practicum experiences, and judging an international science fair.  She is a member of the American Psychological Association, Society of Pediatric Psychology, and Children’s Oncology Group.

Dr. Urban has extensive evaluation and therapy experience with individuals of varying ages in inpatient, outpatient, primary care, and residential settings; she currently provides services primarily with children, adolescents, and young adults. Dr. Urban provides inpatient consultations at Peyton Manning Children’s Hospital at St. Vincent <SYS9-10-4> and St.Vincent Indianapolis Hospital, as well as outpatient evaluations and therapy. Her specific clinical interests include:

  • Chronic pain and illness management
