Fine Needle Aspiration Biopsy
Fine needle aspiration uses a needle to remove tissue or fluid from a lump or cyst in the breast. The sample is then analyzed under a microscope to check for signs of disease.
Simple aspirations attempt to draw fluid from lumps that may be cysts using a small gauge needle. Fine needle biopsy uses a larger needle to make multiple passes through a lump, drawing out tissue and fluid. This screening test does not require any incisions.
