Maternal-Fetal Medicine Specialists

James Sumners, MDJames E. Sumners, MD
Dr. Sumners received his Doctorate in Medicine from the University of Tennessee in 1969 before completing a surgical internship at Ohio State University. He completed his residency in Pediatrics at St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital in Memphis, and in Obstetrics and Gynecology at University of Illinois Medical Center in Chicago. His fellowship in Neonatal-Perinatal Medicine was at the University of Alabama in Birmingham and in Maternal-Fetal Medicine at Indiana University School of Medicine in Indianapolis. Dr. Sumners is board certified in pediatrics, neonatal-perinatal medicine, obstetrics and gynecology, and Maternal-Fetal Medicine. He has held faculty appointments at the University of Alabama in Birmingham, the Medical College of Wisconsin, the University of Illinois, and Indiana University.

Bivins, HaroldHarold A. Bivins, Jr., MD
Dr. Bivins received his Doctorate in Medicine from the Mercer University School of Medicine in Macon, Georgia in 1987 before completing his residency at the Medical Center of Central Georgia. His fellowship in Maternal-Fetal Medicine was at the Medical University of South Carolina in Charleston, South Carolina. Dr. Bivins is board certified in Obstetrics and Gynecology and Maternal-Fetal Medicine. He has been an Assistant Clinical Professor at the Medical College of Georgia, Assistant Professor at Mercer University School of Medicine, Chairman, Department of Obstetrics & Gynecology at Memorial Health University Medical Center, Svannah Georgia, Director of Maternal-Fetal Medicine at Memorial Health Univeristy Medical Center, and most recently a Maternal-Fetal Medicine Physician at Atlantic Maternal-Fetal Medicine in Morristown, NJ. Dr. Bivins joined our team of specialists at St.Vincent Women’s Hospital in 2011.

General OB/GYN Physicians

Robert DeatonRobert Deaton, MD
Dr. Deaton received his Doctorate in Medicine from the Indiana University School of Medicine in 1974 before completing his residency at Indiana University Hospital/Wishard Memorial Hospital. He has been an OB/GYN at St.Vincent Women’s Hospital for 27 years and most recently became the Co-Director of the St.Vincent Center for Women’s Health in 2007. Dr. Deaton joined our practice in 2010.

 

Donald Shackleford, MD
Dr. Shackleford received his Doctorate in Medicine from the University of Louisville School of Medicine in before completing his residence at the Bayfront Medical Center in St. Petersburg Florida. He was in private practice in Campbillsville, KY for 16 years before working directly for the Taylor County Hospital in Campbellsville, KY where he was the Chief of OB/GYN and Co-Chairman of the Department of Surgery before joining our team in 2011.

Nurse Practitioner

Dana Lennie, ARPN
Dana received her certification as a woman's health nurse practitioner in 1998. She has worked in postpartum and high-risk obstetrical units at Mercy Hospital in Des Moines, Iowa, and with new mothers and babies at Northwestern Hospital, Chicago. Dana joined our team in 2000.

Genetic Counselors

Rachel Doyel, MS, LGC
Rachel is a licensed certified genetic counselor at the Center for Prenatal Diagnosis. She received her BS degree from Saint Mary's College in Notre Dame, Indiana and completed her MS degree in Genetic Counseling at the Indiana University School of Medicine in Indianapolis in 2006. Prior to becoming a genetic counselor, Rachel worked as a contractor with Eli Lilly and Company as an analytical chemist. Rachel joined our team in 2006.

Heather Marin, MS, LGC
Heather is a licensed certified genetic counselor at the Center for Prenatal Diagnosis. She received her BS degree from Benedictine University in Lisle, Illinois and completed her MS degree in Genetic Counseling at the Indiana University School of Medicine in Indianapolis in 2003. She joined our team that same year.

Megan Tucker, MS, LGC
Megan is a licensed certified genetic counselor at the Center for Prenatal Diagnosis. She received her BS degree in Biology Secondary Education at Indiana University in Bloomington, Indiana and taught biology, chemistry/physics, and zoology for two years at Pendleton Heights High School in Pendleton, Indiana. She received her MS degree in Genetic Counseling from the Indiana University School of Medicine in Indianapolis in 2006 and joined our team that same year.

Ultrasonographers

Kathy Edie, RT, RDMS
Kathy is one of our primary sonographers who received her degree from the IU Medical Center in 1977. She joined the Center for Prenatal diagnosis in 1992 after working for 14 years at Riley Children’s Hospital.

Colleen Lauck, RDMS
Colleen is one of our primary sonographers. She graduated from the Medical Career Institute in Chicago in 2007. She then completed her internship with the Maternal-Fetal Medicine and Genetics Center at St.Vincent Women’s Hospital before joining the Center for Prenatal Diagnosis in April 2008.

Office Manager

Amberlee Hudson, RT
Amberlee is our office manager and a sonographer, and has been with the Center for Prenatal diagnosis for more than 20 years. She received her Radiology Training at Hancock Memorial Hospital.
