The acronym R U A H is Yiddish for "breath of life".
In 2002, St.Vincent Health established under Section 340 of the Public Health Service Act, the Healthy Communities Access Program (HCAP), which had been operating as a demonstration grant program since the 2000 fiscal year. In an effort to expand community access to services, the Community Access Program (CAP) ultimately became Rural and Urban Access to Health (RUAH).
RUAH supports Ascension Health Network's Call to Action: "Healthcare that Leaves No One Behind". We will work for access to care for all. No one will be left behind. We will speak up for people in need. We will take action at both the local and national level. We will use our ideas and influence to advocate for those who are poor and vulnerable. We will partner with others who share our commitment to healing, and our dedication to service. We will know we have been successful when 100 percent of people have access to the services they need.
We support St.Vincent Health ministries throughout Central Indiana with support services and resources around Health Access, Medication Access, and Language Access Services.
