Olympic silver medalist to visit St.Vincent Children’s Hospital

 

Indianapolis, IN – Guard Young, the 2004 team silver medalist on the United States Olympic Gymnastics Team, will visit St.Vincent Children’s Hospital as part of the VISA Gymnastics Championships being held this year at Conseco Fieldhouse.

A native of Oklahoma City, Young was also an alternate member of the 2003 World Artistic Championships; a member of the 2002 Individual Event World Championships Team; and a silver medalist on the 2001 World Artistic Championships.
   
He is a graduate of Brigham Young University. Young helped the U.S. men's gymnastics team earn an Olympic silver medal, the men's first medal since the team struck gold in the 1984 Olympics. His father, Wayne, was on the 1976 Olympic Gymnastics Team and was the 1975 NCAA All-Around Champion. His older sister, Jessica, attends BYU on a gymnastics scholarship.

 

Young was married April 30, 1999, to Alisha Tolman, and celebrated the birth of his first son, Tyler Mark, on Feb. 6, 2003. Guard is currently employed as an assistant coach for the University of Oklahoma men's gymnastics team, which won the 2003 NCAA Championships.
