INDIANAPOLIS – On Saturday, July 21, St.Vincent Indianapolis Hospital celebrated the start of renovation for the new Children’s Choice Learning Center, located at 1801 W. 86th Street, with games and giveaways for hospital associates and kids.
The St.Vincent Children’s Choice Learning Center is a product of hospital associate demands to create an onsite facility that provides child care for their children. The Center will include classrooms and a playground for children, and will be operated by Texas-based Children’s Choice Learning Centers.
Our new Children’s Choice Learning Center will help our associates with today’s life issues,” said Marty DuRall, executive director of Human Resources at St.Vincent. “We have made a commitment to the future of our organization by providing a valuable service for our associates. The Center will serve as a safe and healthy environment that will allow children to learn during their stay.”
In April, the St.Vincent Foundation coordinated an ambitious associate fundraising goal to raise money for the $850,000 renovation for the Children’s Choice Learning Center. The focus of the fundraising campaign was to generate hospital associates’ support for a service that would decrease absenteeism and allow work flexibility among co-workers.
“This new service really speaks to our associates, and will be a tangible example of why our organization will continue to be recognized as an employer of choice,” said DuRall. “The Children’s Choice Learning Center will allow associates to be close to their young children while at work.”
The 29,400-square-foot Children’s Choice Learning Center will have availability for 135 children ages 6 weeks to 5 years, and is expected to open this fall. Hospital associates will pay a market competitive rate, and the Center will offer extended hours from 6 a.m. to 7:30 p.m. The Children’s Choice Learning Center supports the hospital’s recent recognition as the most preferred hospital and the best place to work in the city of Indianapolis by the Greater Indianapolis Chamber of Commerce and Consumers’ Choice.
