St.Vincent Health Announces New Chief Operating and Financial Officers

INDIANAPOLIS – Today, St. Vincent Health officials announced the appointments of Ian Worden as the new chief operating officer and Marvin L. White as chief financial officer for the 18-hospital system.

For the past eight years, Worden served as chief financial officer for St.Vincent Health, and was responsible for finance, materials management, accounting, patient financial services and managed care.  In April, he was named interim chief operating officer, and led health service growth, development and operations for the faith-based organization.

With Worden appointed as chief operating officer, St.Vincent Health officials launched an executive search for a seasoned professional to operate the organization’s finances.  White, immediate past chair of St.Vincent Indianapolis Hospital Board of Directors and former chair of the hospital’s Finance Committee, will bring expertise and vast experience in health care financial operations to the 127-year health care provider.  At Eli Lilly & Company, he served as executive director and chief financial officer of LillyUSA, where he was a member of the operations committee.

“The appointments of Ian and Marvin will appropriately position our health system’s operational and financial future,” said Vincent Caponi, CEO of St.Vincent Health.  “These leaders’ talents and understanding of our organization will guide our growth, and allow us to continue to support the mission, our patients and Indiana communities.”

Prior to joining St.Vincent Health, Worden, a certified public accountant, served as chief financial officer for Peace Health-Oregon.  He earned a bachelor’s in Psychology from Florida State University, and master’s degrees in Neuroscience, Business Administration and Hospital Administration from the University of Wisconsin in Madison.  Worden serves on the boards of a provider-owned insurance company, and several joint ventures and hospitals.

White held Eli Lilly leadership positions in Corporate Finance and Investment Banking in the Corporate Strategy Group, and was the pharmaceutical company’s executive director and assistant treasurer.  He serves on the board for Ryla Teleservices in Atlanta, and has been very active with the Center for Leadership Development, Big Brothers Big Sisters and the United Way.  White earned his bachelor’s in Accounting from Wilberforce University, and master’s of Business Administration in Finance from Indiana University.
