DETAILS:
On Saturday, December 6 at 9 a.m. in the St.Vincent Ambulance Bay, volunteers throughout Central Indiana will bag, load and transport several truck loads of road salt for the 15th Annual ERase – Salt Bagging Project. At the conclusion of the project, free bags of salt will be available for the public at the St.Vincent Emergency Department.
The St.Vincent Emergency Department has partnered with the City of Indianapolis, Brightpoint and Starbucks Coffee to bag salt to reduce and prevent the number of emergency room visits related to falls on ice during the winter season.
The ERase project will be specifically beneficial for the older adult and pediatric populations, who are advised to be more vigilant during the winter seasons. Common back injuries, wrist and ankle fractures can occur due to falls on ice.
The event will include volunteers filling bags of salt, various forms of entertainment, prize giveaways and the Indiana Pacers mascots, Boomer and Bowser.
