ZIONSVILLE – StylEyes, part of the St.Vincent Physician Network, is a full-service optical shop where Optometrist Angela Berghoff O.D. is offering a free Optomap retinal exam for children during a regular eye check-up.
A retinal exam provides early detection of eye and other diseases. Children can avoid having their eyes dilated with an Optomap retinal exam, a method used by eye doctors to get a picture of the back of the eye.
"Your child's eye health needs to be part of their regular health check-up," said Dr. Berghoff. "Eye examinations are an important preventive method in detecting the early signs of various ailments in addition to the need for glasses. Early signs of disease can sometimes show in the retina without demonstrating any other immediate signs or symptoms."
A retinal screening is critical to verify the eye is healthy. The screening can lead to early detection of common diseases such as glaucoma, diabetes, heart disease, hypertension, macular degeneration and even cancer.
"Your child may receive a yearly vision screening test at school but this screening should not take the place of a comprehensive eye exam," said Dr. Berghoff. "It is essential your child receives a complete eye exam with a retinal screening. In my opinion, this is just as important to your child’s overall health and wellbeing as yearly physicals and check ups with their pediatrician."
Schedule your child's eye exam by September 30 and receive a free Optomap Retinal Exam by
