INDIANAPOLIS – St.Vincent Indianapolis Hospital was recognized for its accomplishments as a 2008 Top 100 Hospital by Thomson Reuters. Thomson Reuters performs the study annually to share new standards being set by the hospital industry using expertise and innovative technology to provide intelligent information for businesses and professionals. St.Vincent earns the award for the third time. The hospital was also recognized as a Top 100 Hospital in 1998 and 1999.
The selection of the Top 100 Hospitals is determined by measuring statistical performance in five designated categories, including clinical process and outcomes, patient safety, patient perception of care, operational efficiency and financial stability.
“The Top 100 Hospital designation is a testament to our medical staff and associates’ commitment to delivering quality and safe care to patients and families throughout Indiana and the country,” said Kyle DeFur, president of St.Vincent Indianapolis Hospital. “We are proud to be recognized with this honor, and will remain dedicated to addressing our patients’ unique healthcare needs by focusing on holistic care – mind, body and spirit.”
In addition to being named a top tier hospital, the faith-based hospital earned the National Benchmarks Award and Everest Award. The National Benchmarks Award is awarded to hospitals that display the highest levels of performance compared to other hospitals across the United States. St.Vincent is also the only hospital in the Indianapolis area to receive the Everest Award for National Benchmarks, which only 23 hospitals earned nationwide.
Recently, St.Vincent earned the Disease-Specific Care Certification for Heart Failure; Joint Replacement in hip and knee; Spine Injury; High Risk Obstetrics; and as an Advanced Primary Stroke Center from The Joint Commission, the nation’s premier healthcare accreditation entity.
