INDIANAPOLIS – St.Vincent Women’s Hospital is the first in the state to earn the Disease-Specific Care Certification for High Risk Obstetrics from The Joint Commission, the nation’s premier healthcare accreditation entity.
The Joint Commission’s Disease-Specific Care Certification Program evaluates clinical programs and awards accreditation to healthcare organizations that demonstrate compliance with national standards and safety goals, evidence-based clinical practice guidelines, and performance measurement and improvement activities.
"We are proud to be the only healthcare provider in Indiana to receive such a distinction for high risk pregnancies," said Anita Roesener, director of High Risk and Labor at St.Vincent Women’s Hospital. "We make every effort to ensure that our mothers and babies receive the highest quality of care during their special time of need."
St.Vincent Women’s Hospital is the only hospital in Indiana to have both Level III Obstetric and Level IIIC Newborn intensive care units in one designated location. Maternal fetal medicine specialists, neonatologists and pediatric sub-specialists work as a team to deliver comprehensive and compassionate care for expectant mothers, new moms and newborns.
The clinicians and staff at St.Vincent Women’s Hospital care for patients from the planning process to post-birth care. Classes are offered for both high-risk and non-high-risk pregnant mothers and family. The freestanding women’s hospital has the largest team of board-certified maternal fetal medicine specialists in Indiana who provide 24/7 physician coverage in the 24-bed High-Risk Obstetrics Unit.
Last year, St.Vincent Women’s Hospital treated approximately 2000 patients with high risk pregnancies.
