St.Vincent Health and Zionsville Community Schools Partnership Focuses on Quality Care and Cost Savings

ZIONSVILLE – Today, St.Vincent Health and Zionsville Community Schools officials announced a new partnership to benefit the health of students and staff, and create cost savings for the school system.  The school-based health and wellness partnership is a multi-faceted extension of the longstanding relationship between the two entities.

Since 1996, St. Vincent Health has provided sports performance support for Zionsville Community Schools athletes.  St.Vincent Health has also served the Zionsville community and been a familiar partner to area residents and businesses for decades.

“We are pleased to extend our existing relationship with such a reputable health provider that has the best interest of our students and staff at heart,” said Scott Robison, Ph.D., Superintendent of Zionsville Community Schools.  “Our comprehensive partnership ensures that students and staff have access to necessary care, which assists us in our efforts to be good stewards of taxpayers’ resources.”

Under the new affiliation, St.Vincent Health and Zionsville Community Schools will collaborate to establish an onsite employee health clinic, school-based health centers and sponsorship of the athletic program.

The 128-year-old health provider contracted with Novia, a locally-based independent medical care development and management company, to assist in managing the onsite employee health clinic.  St.Vincent Health will provide a primary care physician and a registered nurse for the clinic, which will serve Zionsville Community Schools’ employees and those qualified to be on the health plan.  The clinic will be located within Pleasant View Elementary School, and there will be no cost to school employees for physician visits or onsite generic prescriptions.

Lastly, the two entities will extend their sports performance relationship to allow the hospital network to continue providing optimal treatment for the school system’s athletes.  St.Vincent Sports Performance trainers will be accessible and in attendance at sporting practices and events to provide immediate diagnosis, and injury and illness consultation for student-athletes.  The arrangement will also grant sponsorship of the school’s athletic program with naming rights of the athletic facilities.

“By granting St.Vincent Health naming rights of our athletic facilities, we are demonstrating our trust in an organization that has a history of being a great partner,” said Dr. Robison.  “This sponsorship will generate revenue for our school district, save taxpayer resources, and extend the hospital’s visible presence in a community it has served well for decades.”

St.Vincent Health will also provide registered nurses and health center assistants at all Zionsville Community Schools to ensure each student is receiving quality, compassionate care.  The nurses and health center assistants will address the unique health care needs of students and have access to consult with the primary care physician staffing the onsite employee health clinic.  Through this partnership, students will be within close proximity to the comprehensive programs and services of Peyton Manning Children’s Hospital at St.Vincent.
