Community Benefit Executive Summary

Established by St.Vincent Indianapolis Hospital and St. Joseph Hospital and Health Center in Kokomo, St.Vincent Health advances and strengthens the healing ministry of Ascension Health and the Catholic Church through its mission, values and actions.  As a system of 18 hospitals that serve the central 45 counties of Indiana, St.Vincent Health brings the words of the first four founding Daughters of Charity that arrived in Indianapolis in 1881 into focus today:   “We have a mission, a reason for being here…to keep health care human for our patients, human for our families, human for our doctors and human for our associates.  The poor will come and the rich will come if they know they are going to be treated as people.”
