“I am proud to be a part of the Ob/Gyn Residency Program at St. Vincent Hospital. It is a program in which the residents receive extensive training in surgery and obstetric care. The residents are a wonderful group of individuals who are enthusiastic about learning, work well together and practice good medicine.”

“St. Vincent is a great program that is packed with many smart, hardworking, personable residents. The residents work exceptionally hard and mystifyingly well together. Best program that I’ve ever been involved with.”

Rick Gates – 1995 Graduate

I felt well prepared for private practice after my training at St. Vincent.  Daily contact with private patients was most helpful in making this transition.  The private staff physicians were very generous in sharing their experience and patients in education.  The gynecologic surgical experience was outstanding; the quantity of surgery was often more than we could physically cover.  With the addition of Maternal Fetal Medicine Specialists (Perinatologists), the obstetrical experience is unparalleled.  The program continues to grow and as a result, so does the resident’s education.  (Dr. Gates is currently in private practice and also a member of the teaching faculty at St. Vincent Hospital)

John Leone – 1982 Graduate

It is with a great deal of pride that I can say I graduated from the St. Vincent Residency Program.  St. Vincent’s program prepared me for entering private practice in Ob/Gyn in three main ways:

*I received a tremendous amount of gynecological surgical experience
*Obstetrical cases were many and varied; my training with forceps was superior and has given me great comfort in dealing with difficult situations
*Finally, more than just textbook and surgical training, I learned how to work with others – students, nurses, peers, patients and families.

The St. Vincent Ob/Gyn Residency Program was, is and will continue to be an excellent residency experience for anyone willing to give his or her best effort in order to obtain quality training in Ob/Gyn.
(Dr. Leone is currently in private practice and a member of the St. Vincent Ob/Gyn Teaching Faculty)
