Post Graduate Year 1 Pharmacy Residency

The St.Vincent Post Graduate Year 1 Residency (PGY1) is a one-year commitment designed to provide post-graduate practical experience in the provision of pharmaceutical care. Through these experiences, the resident is provided the opportunity to develop himself or herself as a pharmacy practitioner. Our goal is to train each resident to be a competent and confident provider of comprehensive pharmaceutical care. The resident will demonstrate the ability to manage patient care and achieve optimal drug therapy outcomes. He or she will be accountable for providing education to other health care professionals and patients through a multitude of educational opportunities. Throughout the residency experience, each resident will develop individual and professional skills that result in a highly marketable clinical practitioner.
St.Vincent Indianapolis Hospital is a 500+ bed, acute care hospital and referral center affiliated with the Indiana University School of Medicine. The hospital’s Medical Education Department supports medical residents in Internal Medicine, Family Practice, Pediatrics, and Obstetrics/Gynecology. The Pharmacy Department has PGY2 residencies in the areas of pediatrics and primary care. St.Vincent Indianapolis Hospital provides the entire spectrum of inpatient and outpatient medical and surgical services.
The PGY1 Resident will be given the opportunity to gain experience in the following areas:

Service Commitment:
The resident will be scheduled in dispensing and unit-based pharmacy areas. The scheduling will include evening and/or weekend shifts, as well as selected holidays, to provide patient-focused activities as required by the Department of Pharmacy Services.
Start Date: July 1, 2008
Application Requirements:
Pharm.D. degree, letter of intent, curriculum vitae, college transcript, and three standard letters of recommendation (not ASHP format) must be received by January 11, 2008.
