Scope Of Service
CSTs will find exciting career choices at St. Vincent Carmel Hospital by working in one of our two surgical arenas – Obstetrics or Perioperative Services. Obstetrics consists of two operating rooms and the CST performs a variety of obstetrical and gynecological procedures. Additionally, the CST assists the physician in both Cesarean and vaginal deliveries. Perioperative Services consists of ten operating rooms and the CST performs in a variety of surgical services, including Orthopedics, Bariatrics, ENT, Plastics and General Surgery. Another opportunity for CSTs within Perioperative Services exists in Central Processing. These CSTs are accountable for the decontamination, packaging and sterilization of instrumentation and implants. With the continued advancement of minimally invasive procedures and technology, this area has a growing need for the expertise of the CST.
Job Requirements
Certification by the Liaison Council on Certification for the Surgical Technologists (LCC-ST) is required within one year of hire for the CST position at St.Vincent Carmel Hospital.
