Centered on Excellence
At St.Vincent Indianapolis and Carmel hospitals, everything we do begins with a focus on delivering excellence throughout the Indianapolis Region. From outcomes, to prudent management of our resources, to caring and compassionate service, we demand excellence of ourselves and for those who turn to us for their healthcare needs.
Our efforts have not gone unrecognized.
St.Vincent Indianapolis Hospital, ranked nationally in cardiac, stroke, orthopedic and gastrointestinal care, is Indiana’s only hospital to be recognized for excellence in four specialty areas by HealthGrades, the nation’s leading provider of independent hospital ratings.
The study analyzed nearly 5,000 hospitals in all 50 states and the District of Columbia.
The HealthGrades analysis ranked St.Vincent number one in Indiana for joint replacement surgery; overall gastrointestinal care; among the top five percent nationally for stroke, orthopedic and gastrointestinal care; and in the top 10 percent for overall cardiac care.
St.Vincent Carmel Hospital has recently expanded its Emergency Department
and Breast Center, and serves the Carmel area as a regional facility for both St.Vincent Women's and Children's hospitals, providing comprehensive care for our patients in Hamilton County.
The St.Vincent Bariatric Center at St.Vincent Carmel Hospital received the highest level of achievement granted by the American Society of Bariatric Surgery: the Center of Excellence designation.
Other organizations have also acknowledged the excellence found at St.Vincent:
St. Vincent Indianapolis Hospital and the St.Vincent Heart Center of Indiana are among the 2007 Thomson 100 Top Hospitals: Cardiovascular Benchmarks for Success, which examined the performance of nearly 1,000 U.S. hospitals by analyzing their outcomes for eight measures related to congestive heart failure, heart attacks, coronary artery bypass grafts, and percutaneous coronary interventions such as angioplasties. If all cardiovascular hospitals achieved the same results as the 100 TOP Hospitals award winners, according to the study, more than 7,000 lives would be saved and nearly 750 medical complications would be avoided annually.
St.Vincent was recognized as a 2006 CareScience Select Practice Customer Quality Leader in the treatment of pneumonia, stroke, and heart attack.
We were one of six Indiana hospitals to receive a U.S. Department of Health and Human Services Medal of Honor for our efforts to generate significant increases in organ donation.
We’ve committed human and financial resources to create eight centers of excellence designed to provide compassionate care, cutting-edge treatment, and excellent outcomes.
