This program is for new graduate nurses only. The program was developed to help graduate nurses make a better unit choice when looking for employment after school. Many of the GN’s make their work unit choice based on perception or school clinical experience. Our goal is to offer a better way to select a work unit and in doing so create greater associate satisfaction.
The program basics are structured to allow the participants to work for one week ( 3 – 12 hour shifts) on six different units of their choice. The participant then identify their top 3 choices for permanent placement. Interviews are conducted and permanent assignments are made at the end of the 7th week of the program.
All program participants are hired as full time associates with benefits. The object is to place the GN in the right unit doing the right work. The other benefit to the program is the opportunity to see units that may be a later career goal such as working in the Family Life Center, Hospice or NICU.
The program is offered in June and January for graduating nursing students.
