The Joint Commission on Accreditation of Healthcare Organizations conducts an accreditation survey of St.Vincent Jennings Hospital on an unannounced basis.
The purpose of the survey will be to evaluate the organization’s compliance with nationally established Joint Commission Standards. The survey results will be used to determine whether, and the conditions under which accreditation should be awarded the organization.
Joint Commission standards deal with organizational quality of care issues and the safety of the environment in which care is provided. If any person has any quality of care or safety concerns in the organization, they are encouraged to discuss their concerns with the hospital's management. If the concerns cannot be resolved through the organization, the individual may notify Joint Commission. Any person may contact the Joint Commission's office of Quality Monitoring to report any concerns or register complaints about a Joint Commission accredited health care organization by either calling 1-800-994-6610 or sending an e-mail to complaint@jointcommission.org.
The Joint Commission policy forbids accredited organizations from taking retaliatory actions against employees for having reported quality of care concerns to The Joint Commission.
