Oncology

The Oncology Services Department is located on the second floor in the Medical Specialty Center at St.Vincent Mercy Hospital. Our experienced oncology staff provides quality and compassionate care to patients and families. We know that the diagnosis and treatment of cancer involve both the patient and his or her family. We are here to help each individual through the different stages.

Staffed by oncology certified registered nurses with knowledge in the administration of chemotherapy, we treat each person as we would like our family members to be treated. Above all, we treat everyone with dignity and respect.

Our services vary and include chemotherapy, infusions, and blood transfusions. Our department is open Monday through Friday from 7:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Someone is on call for questions or concerns. Laurence Bates, MD, offers convenient hours in the Medical Specialty Center. Dr. Bates received his medical degree from the University of Kansas School of Medicine in hematology and oncology.
