The SVRH Foundation is governed by a volunteer Board of Directors comprised of people who live in Randolph County. Members of the board do not get financially compensated for the time that they volunteer to assist with governing the Foundation’s operations and activities. The primary task of Board Members is to serve as the Foundation’s link to the community, and to ensure that the Board fulfills its responsibilities with respect to the governance and operation of the Foundation. In performing their tasks and responsibilities, Board Members are advised and assisted by the Foundation’s Executive Director. Board Members are free to request the services of the Executive Director in any aspect of discharging their responsibilities relating to the Foundation.
Among the primary responsibilities of Board Members are the following:
Work – Time
- Act as a public representative of the Foundation and help provide leadership in the Foundation’s operation.
- Attend regular meetings of the Board.
- Serve on standing and special committees of the Board, as required.
- Assist in the recruitment of other Board members from the community in concert with the Nomination Committee and Hospital Board.
- Solicit gifts from peers in the community commensurate with their financial ability, the established development needs of the Hospital, and the financial goals of the Foundation as determined by the Board.
Wisdom – Talent
- Apply one’s knowledge and expertise towards the advancement of the Foundation’s mission: “The role of he SVRH Foundation is to raise funds and gain community involvement in support of SVR Hospital’s efforts to address and improve the health and wellness of people living in the area.”
- Keep abreast of the health care needs of the community and other environmental factors that might affect the operations of the Foundation.
- Review the Foundation’s strategic plan and overall operations to ensure they are in accord with the overall development needs of the Hospital.
- Suggest changes to the Foundation’s by-laws, strategic plan, policies and procedures that will improve its capacity to fulfill its mission.
- Provide the Foundation’s Development Committee with the names of individuals and organizations capable of providing support to the Foundation.
- Assist the Development Committee and the Executive Director in formulating and executing approaches to prospective donors.
Wealth – Treasure
- Provide a financial commitment to the Foundation commensurate with one’s financial ability, leadership position, the established development needs of the Hospital, and the financial goals of the Foundation as determined by the Board.
