Saint John’s Birthing Center
Saint John’s maternity services brings together a team of maternal specialists who share the goal of enhancing local services provided to women before, during and after their pregnancy.
Through its team of skilled physicians, nurse midwives, and other health professionals, Saint John’s Birthing Center provides optimum care to newborns and mothers. The unit features:
- State-of-the-art Labor, Delivery, Recovery, Postpartum (LDRP) rooms. Mothers will remain in the same private room for the entire labor, delivery, recovery and postpartum experience, unless they have a C-section.
- Each room has a separate dining area, where the new mother can have a special Celebration of Life meal with her partner.
- At Your Service -- lunch and dinner are ordered from a menu and delivered to the room throughout the day
- Complimentary snack area and snack cart
- TV and VCR, including EdTV education access
- Rockers, sleep chairs, and whirlpool baths are available
- Level II nursery.
- Bilichek is used to detect jaundice in infants without taking a blood sample
- Newborn portrait, internet gallery access for family and friends, and professional photography packages available
- Lactation consultant and breast pump rental
Saint John’s Women’s Center Conveniently located in Saint John’s Ambulatory Services Center, the Women’s Center’s atmosphere, staff, programs and services are geared totally to women. The Women’s Center utilizes state-of-the-art diagnostic techniques to detect breast disease. Sophisticated equipment includes all digital mammography, stereotactic core needle biopsy system with vacuum-assisted Suros Automated Tissue Excision and Collection, breast MR, and breast ultrasound.
Saint John’s Women’s Center has acquired two Fischer Imaging SenoScan digital mammography units. The SensoScan increases the visibility in the dense breast tissue and reduces radiation exposure, provides the industry’s highest image resolution, and comfortably accommodate virtually any size woman with its unique curved breast support. Furthermore, SenoScan digital image output enables breast-scanning images to be transmitted within minutes for physicians to review. As a result the patient receives faster results, decreasing patient anxiety.

Outpatient Rehabilitation Saint John’s Carl D. Erskine Rehabilitation Center has specialized therapies to meet the needs of women. Continence/Women's Health -- Saint John's offers advanced care for incontinence sufferers in a confidential environment. The Continence Rehabilitation Program focuses on promoting control of the bowel and bladder. Assessment and treatment may include using EMG-biofeedback.
Lymphedema Treatment - for abnormal swelling of the extremities. This treatment can be very helpful after breast surgery. Saint John's features a certified lymphedema therapist. |
