Patient Responsibilities
As part of the patient / hospital relationship, we believe that the patient has the responsibility:
- To provide information about past illnesses, hospitalizations, medications and other health matters;
- To follow the course of treatment proposed by the physician or to accept the consequences if you refuse treatment or refuse to follow the physician’s instructions;
- To ask questions if instructions are not clearly understood;
- To be considerate of the rights of other patients and to respect their privacy; to treat your caregivers with respect and consideration;
- To compensate the hospital for services provided including compliance with insurance requirements;
- To refrain from bringing any valuable property to the hospital, or if brought with you, then to have valuables secured in the hospital safe;
- To observe facility policies and procedures, including those on smoking, cellular phones, noise and visitors;
- To advise caregivers of any dissatisfaction you may have.
