Good Hope Equestrian Center is a program St.Joseph Hospital offers through traditional psychiatric medication management and psychotherapy in a relaxed and natural setting. 

 

What is Equine Assisted Psychotherapy (EAP)?
• Horsemanship/riding not the focus
• Horses used as tools for emotional growth and learning
• Horses used in activities utilizing non-verbal communication, assertiveness, creative thinking, problem solving, established responsibility, teamwork and attitude
• Experiential – by participating in activities with horses and then processing feelings, behaviors and patterns one learns about self and others
• Addresses variety of mental health/human development needs – behavioral problems, attention deficit disorders, substance abuse, eating disorders, abuse issues, depression, anxiety, relationship problems and communication
