Pharmacy
The Pharmacy Department at St.Vincent Williamsport Hospital provides inpatient medications, monitoring of medication’s effects on inpatients, and education. The most current medical information available is utilized to evaluate each inpatient’s medication regimen to promote safe and effective treatment. The Pharmacist works closely with the physicians and other health care providers to tailor medications to meet each patient’s needs.
Diabetes Skills and Self-Management training, including insulin administration and home monitor use, is offered to inpatients and outpatients. Other types of education available include anticoagulant use, chronic obstructive airway education, heart failure education, medication management and hypertension education. Pharmacy associates can also assist patients in utilizing programs that provide medication procurement assistance.
Education programs for physicians and associates are also provided by the Pharmacy Department. Purdue University has designated the St.Vincent Williamsport Hospital Pharmacy Department as a site for Doctor of Pharmacy Candidates in adult internal medicine and hospital practice.
