St.Vincent Opens New Orthopedic Center

New State-of the-Art Facility Will Offer Comprehensive Care at One Destination

On Monday, July 17, St.Vincent Indianapolis Hospital will open its new state-of-the-art Orthopedic Center to treat Indiana’s patients who require the highest level of expertise care for hand, joint replacement, spine, upper extremity, sports medicine and pediatric subspecialties.

The 120,000-square-foot orthopedic center will provide a one-stop location for all orthopedic patients to ensure a specific and integrated focus on quality, all encompassing care and convenient access to the tertiary services at St.Vincent Hospital, Indiana’s most trusted health care provider.

The comprehensive specialty hospital is connected within St.Vincent, due to its full-service capabilities to better care for high risk patients who may require immediate specialty or emergency services other than orthopedics during a surgery.

“We plan to provide high touch, high quality, advanced technology orthopedic care which will be recognized throughout the United States,” said Jeff Pierson, MD, medical director of the St.Vincent Orthopedic Center.  “At the new specialty hospital, we will provide a wide range of orthopedic subspecialty services with a patient and family-first philosophy.”

The Orthopedic Center will encompass 60 private inpatient rooms, the most advanced surgical technology, cutting-edge radiology services and some of the state’s most respected physicians and medical professionals, who are dedicated to providing compassionate orthopedic care for Indiana’s patients.

Physicians of the St.Vincent Orthopedic Center have led the state and nation in pioneering various minimally-invasive joint replacements, hand and spinal procedures.  These physicians are also among the first to use specific cutting-edge technologies, such as the O-arm imaging device for spine surgeries and portable digital x-ray imaging equipment.

“Although we offer a state-of-the-art facility and the most advanced technology and services, our focus will remain high touch, as we compassionately care for the mind, body and spirit of each patient,” said Dr. Pierson.

Patients and families will have the opportunity to take advantage of the education resource center, computer kiosks for visitors and have wireless access to the Internet.  The Center’s décor will have a strong emphasis of earth tones and creative artwork, while concierge services will be offered for guests and patients.

“The Center has moved away from the institutionalized feeling that characterizes many hospitals, to a feeling of wellness, which is certainly appropriate for a specialty that is focused on quality of life improvements,” said Dr. Pierson.  “We want the patient to feel as if he or she were in to comfort of their own home at our hospital.”
