Cosmetic surgery is ideally done after the patient has lost the majority of his or her excess weight, approximately one year after surgery. If surgery is performed too soon or before the patient has reached ideal body weight, they often are not satisfied with the results and must return for additional surgery. Cosmetic surgery is usually not covered by insurance, but can be covered on some occasions if the condition impacts the patient's health. An example would be abdominal skin causing back pain. |
