Support Services
While the core team of people mentioned previously have the most interaction with you and your child, there are countless others who contribute to your child's treatment from behind the scenes. Their contributions are invaluable. They help us every day, with every patient. And they also care deeply about the care and health of your child.
Known fondly as the "play ladies," Child Life Specialists help reduce children's fears and anxieties about being in the hospital and upcoming procedures. They help children get through tests, procedures, hospitalizations and other "have-to's" with cancer and blood disease therapies.
If your child requires an inpatient hospital stay, you will meet our excellent inpatient nurses. These inpatient nurses become like family.
Radiology, medical imaging, nuclear medicine, the lab, social work and the blood bank also contribute to a patient's care as needed.
Other Treatment Team Specialists
Depending on your child's diagnosis and treatment plan, additional specialists may be part of the team. We have a great team of physician specialists who are highly regarded by our center. Having them available to the treatment team adds to the superior clinical care that children receive here. |
