The reality and perception of personal safety, law enforcement, justice and emergency preparedness systems.
Safety Training
St.Vincent offers a variety of safety training and education programs at little or no cost to the public. A complete list of programs, dates and locations is published in Health & Life magazine, distributed widely throughout central Indiana.
Domestic Violence Intervention
St.Vincent is committed to assessing, implementing and evaluating programs for potential victims of domestic violence. Trained social workers and mental health professionals work with victims in a variety of settings and make appropriate referrals.
Chaucie's Place
Chaucie's Place operates in a facility provided by St.Vincent where children, traumatized by physical and sexual abuse, can be interviewed only once by a trained professional, while other authorities observe through a 2-way glass. This approach allows for evidence collection without further damage to the child.
Emergency Preparedness
St.Vincent has an extensive protocol to prepare for and respond to events such as hazardous material spills, multi-vehicle traffic accidents, plan crashes, natural and man-made disasters. St.Vincent also participates in an annual "mock disaster" exercise sponsored by the National Disaster Management System.
Center of Hope
A collaboration between St.Vincent, St. Francis, Community, Clarian-Methodist and Wishard hospitals and the Marion County Prosecutor's Office, which provides medical treatment, evidence collection, law enforcement and psycho-social care for victims of sexual assault.
