Louis M. Profeta MD FACEP
President & Co-Founder of ERASE:

Dr. Profeta is an Emergency Physician at St. Vincent Hospital in Indianapolis, one of the highest acuity ER’s in the State. He is a graduate of the University of Pittsburgh Program in Emergency Medicine, one of the nation’s premier programs for Emergency Medicine Education. He is a co-founder of ERASE (Emergency Room Advise Safety and Education), a non-profit agency whose goals are public safety and promotion of healthy lifestyles. Dr. Profeta was the team physician for the United States Men’s Gymnastic Team at the 1999 World Championships in Tianjin, China. He has developed a series of programs teaching new parents child CPR and first aid. He was the initial driving force to establish the ERASE salt initiative to protect elderly from winter related falls. He served on the AAMC task force for health care reform and co-authored numerous policy papers aimed at maintaining funding for graduate medical education. In 1988 Dr. Profeta authored a paper in the prestigious Journal of the American Medical Association on his experience as a spinal recovery victim. He also wrote an account, in USA Gymnastics Techniques Magazine, on former U.S. Olympic team member Ron Galimore’s contribution to the sport of gymnastics. Dr. Profeta is a frequent guest on television and radio addressing issues of public safety. He has authored many articles, and book chapters on Emergency Medicine, and has most recently been featured in IU Press’s Book Urban Tapestry, detailing his experiences in Emergency Medicine. Dr. Profeta was recently appointed by Mayor Bart Peterson to serve on the Forensic Services Board for the City of Indianapolis

James Nevin MD FACEP

Immediate Past-President of ERASE, Board Member & Co-Founder of ERASE:


Dr. Nevin is Vice President of St. Vincent Emergency Physicians Inc, and a practicing Emergency Physician at St. Vincent Hospital of Indianapolis. Dr. Nevin is a graduate and former chief resident of the prestigious Methodist Hospital Program in Emergency Medicine. He served as a flight physician for Life Line air-medical transport service. In addition Dr. Nevin is a former social worker, who currently serves as the medical director for Chaucie’s Place, a facility addressing issues of child abuse and neglect in Hamilton County. He also serves as medical director for the Center of Hope, an organization aimed at providing emergency care and support for women of sexual assault. He is a frequent guest on local television as an expert in public safety issues. He has been very active in the ERASE salt project, a frequent community guest speaker on public health issues, and active in establishing and maintaining the Deborah Kincade scholarship fund for at need students pursuing a career in nursing.


Greg Bauwens MD FACEP

Board Member & Secretary of ERASE:

 

Dr. Bauwens is a practicing Emergency Physician at St. Vincent Hospital of Indianapolis. Dr. Bauwens is a graduate of the prestigious Northwestern University Residency in Emergency Medicine. He went on to become an Associate Instructor in Emergency Medicine at Evanston Northwestern Health Care from 1996-1998. While in Chicago, Dr. Bauwens participated in the Cabrini Green Youth Program mentoring underprivileged and troubled youth. He serves on the Board of Directors of the Indiana Chapter of the American College of Emergency Physicians. His primary interests are in injury prevention and health education. He is currently Treasurer and Secretary of St. Vincent Emergency Physicians Inc.

Michael Sapper CPA

Treasurer of ERASE:

 

Mr. Sapper is the senior partner in Sapper-Bates accounting. He is a member of the Indiana CPA Society, the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants, and the Indiana Network of the Estate Planning Professionals. He also was former Chairperson of the Information Technology Committee of the ICPAS. A graduate of Ball State University, Mr. Sapper has been active in Morning Dove, a foundation developed to create therapeutic riding opportunities for children with disabilities. He has served on the Board of Directors of the Jewish Community Center of Indianapolis. Mr. Sapper is an avid adventure race and triathlon competitor. He has served Indy Parks as the coordinator of the Indianapolis Adventure Race. He was a finisher in the 2002 United States Adventure Racing National Championships. His interests lie in injury prevention, the promotion of healthy lifestyles and sports recreation and training.


Gavin Inglis MD FACEP,

Vice-President of ERASE:

 

Dr. Inglis is a former actor turned Emergency Physician who has appeared in numerous television commercials, and stage productions. A graduate of Indiana University School of Medicine, Gavin went on to complete his post-medical school Residency in Emergency Medicine from one of the nations foremost Emergency and Trauma Programs at the University of Illinois, Chicago. Dr. Inglis was Chief Resident at Masonic Hospital Trauma System. He is a practicing Emergency Physician at St. Vincent Hospital in Indianapolis and serves on the executive board of ERASE. Dr. Inglis instituted a highly successful education forum for junior high and high school students to educate them against the emergency consequences of drugs, alcohol, and gang related activities. He also has developed programs for school age children to introduce them to healthy lifestyles, and established the automated external defibrillation system for sudden cardiac death at Carmel High School. Dr. Inglis is also the founder of the Rod Fasone Memorial Cancer Research Fund, which helps to fund the purchasing of ancillary lab equipment for cancer research facilities. Most recently Dr.Inglis has volunteered to assist in Louisiana in the Hurricane Katrina Medical Support Team. He is a very valuable asset of Emergency Care provision in the City of Indianapolis.
