Making a Complaint

Many minor complaints can be resolved by talking to your therapist directly. There are often misunderstandings in therapy and everybody, even the most wonderful therapist, has an occasional bad day. The St. Vincent Stress Center has outlined a complaint procedure to deal with any clinical, ethical or billing concerns.

If the problem is more serious or you do not feel comfortable complaining to your therapist, ask to speak to that therapist's supervisor. Serious complaints may also be made to the state licensure board that licenses health care professionals and to the professional organizations that credential specific types of therapists.
