Diabetes Management

Diabetes, whether pre-existing or gestational, is a common complication of pregnancy. Poor glucose control can put the baby at risk for birth defects, excessive growth, difficult delivery and even stillbirth. Our perinatal nurse will evaluate your blood sugars as often as needed and, in consultation with our Maternal Fetal Medicine Specialist, recommend a  dietary, medication or insulin plan that is best for you. Through a combination of strict glucose control, antepartum testing and ultrasound examinations, our highly trained staff will work with you and your doctor to obtain the best possible regulation of your diabetes  and minimize risks to your baby.
